Accreditations & Professional Memberships
Jurilingua’s professional credentials reflect four decades of commitment to quality, ethical practice, and the recognised standards of the legal translation industry in the United Kingdom and internationally. Our memberships, translator accreditations, and institutional approvals are verifiable affiliations — not marketing designations — and they are the basis on which solicitors, barristers, courts, and public authorities accept our translations.
Association of Translation Companies (ATC)
Jurilingua is a verified Corporate Member of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC), Membership No. 2026ATCAS14900.
The ATC is the leading professional trade body for translation companies in the United Kingdom, representing the standards and interests of the industry to government, the legal profession, and the wider business community. ATC corporate membership requires companies to meet defined standards of professional conduct, quality management, financial standing, and client service — including complaint-handling procedures and professional indemnity arrangements.
For solicitors and in-house counsel evaluating translation providers, ATC membership is one of the most widely recognised markers of professional standing in the UK market. It signals that the agency operates within a regulated professional framework and is accountable to an industry body with enforceable standards of conduct.
Our ATC membership can be verified directly via the ATC member directory at atc.org.uk.
European Language Industry Association (ELIA)
Jurilingua is a member of the European Language Industry Association (ELIA), the leading international network of language service providers across Europe and beyond.
ELIA membership reflects our engagement with the professional standards, best practices, and collaborative frameworks that define the language services industry at a European level. Our European roots — Jurilingua has operated in European legal markets for over forty years — make this membership a natural expression of our professional positioning in both the UK and continental European markets.
For clients whose matters have a European dimension — transactions governed by EU law, regulatory submissions to European authorities, or litigation involving parties from EU member states — our ELIA membership signals that our European practice meets the standards of the professional body that represents the European language services industry.
Our ELIA membership can be verified at elia-association.org.
Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI)
The Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) are the two principal professional bodies for qualified translators and interpreters in the United Kingdom. Both organisations require their members to demonstrate formal language qualifications, professional experience, and ongoing commitment to the ethical standards and continuing professional development their frameworks require.
Jurilingua’s network of specialist legal translators includes professionals accredited by both the CIOL and the ITI. When you instruct Jurilingua on a certified translation or a complex legal translation project, the translator assigned to your matter may hold individual CIOL or ITI membership — credentials that have been independently assessed and verified by those organisations.
For clients in the legal profession who are accustomed to instructing CIOL- or ITI-accredited translators directly, working with Jurilingua provides access to the same standard of individual professional qualification within a managed project framework — with the additional quality assurance of independent review, project management, and terminology management that a specialist agency provides.
Further information about CIOL accreditation is available at ciol.org.uk.
Further information about ITI accreditation is available at iti.org.uk.
Acceptance by UK Courts, Public Authorities, and Institutions
Jurilingua’s certified translations carry a signed Statement of Truth confirming the accuracy and completeness of the translation and the competence of the translator — the formal certification standard required by UK courts, government departments, and official bodies.
Our certified translations are accepted by the following authorities and institutions:
- His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS), including the High Court, the Crown Court, the County Courts, the Magistrates’ Courts, the Employment Tribunal, and all specialist tribunals. Our translator declarations are formatted to meet the evidentiary and procedural requirements of each court.
- The First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) and the Upper Tribunal, for immigration and asylum proceedings requiring certified translations of foreign civil documents, professional credentials, personal statements, and supporting evidence.
- UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and the Home Office, for all immigration applications, visa proceedings, nationality and citizenship matters, and related administrative processes requiring certified translation of foreign documents.
- HM Passport Office, for applications requiring certified translations of foreign identity and civil status documents.
- The Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), for solicitors and regulated law firms requiring certified translations in connection with client matters and professional compliance.
- Academic institutions and professional licensing bodies, including universities, postgraduate admissions offices, and UK professional regulators requiring certified translations of foreign academic credentials and professional certifications.
- Foreign courts, embassies, and international organisations requiring certified English translations of documents, or certified translations from English into other languages, where our Statement of Truth format meets the requirements of the receiving authority.
Where a specific authority’s requirements are relevant to your project, please advise us at the time of enquiry and we will confirm compliance with those requirements before accepting the instruction.
